The courses are carried on the Learning Management System (LMS) software platform. This provides a holistic learning experience following the Kolb model, and delivers the curriculum based on the CBSE curriculum in a structured manner. The online access modes allow students to study from anywhere at a pace that they are comfortable with.
The four step technology process accommodates individual learning styles and capabilities. The process includes teacher interaction together with self learning by students. Thus, implementing a smart blend of instruction led teaching, backed by interactive learning materials and hands on labs, creates effective learning.
The Learning Management System (LMS) is comprised of different components. These are Class Sessions, E-Books, Virtual Labs, Assignments, Assessment Resources and Collaboration.
Class sessions are organized based on the course syllabus published by the subject matter experts and replicate, through a series of multimedia presentations, the in-class instruction given by the teacher.
Below is an example of a class session
The e-learning âe-Booksâ are the backbone of the educational infrastructure. For each course within a program, the e-Books contains all theoretical information on the topic including graphs, documents, media files, and more. e-Books contain quizzes, practice tests, summative assessments, and exam tips for each subtopic in the subject area.
Below is a screenshot of the e-Books
The virtual laboratories provide a hands on learning experience in various math and science courses. Each lab experiment has a familiarization walk through for students before they perform the experiment. The learner receives immediate feedback on the results of their experiment, allowing them to continue their inquiry and experimentation until they get it right. In every lab there are also quiz questions that the learner can answer to self-determine how much they have learned from the experiments
Resources are additional learning materials that can be posted by the instructors and downloaded by the students. These can be in the form of online videos, pdf documents, PowerPoint presentation, and more. There can be multiple resources assigned by the instructors in different formats for their courses.
Through the assignments option, teachers can post any assignment for the students to complete. The students can download the assignment document and then upload the completed document for the teacher to evaluate. The scores for the assignment graded by the teacher are also visible for the student.
These are classified into 3 categories
Formative assessment is a valuable component of the instructional process, and its effectiveness is dependent on student engagement. Students need to be involved both as assessors of their own learning and as resources to other students, underscoring the importance of self and peer assessment in addition to teacher generated assessments. The innovative E-learning components make learning an engaging experience because of student involvement, enhanced learning and unobtrusive assessment techniques.
Under formative assessment, following are some of the various assessment tools that are included in our question banks:
Matching
Fill in the blanks
Multiple choice questions
True & False Questions
Assertion- Reason type question
Quizzes
Projects/Practical
The teachers can create and schedule an online test based on any one of the parameters
Summative assessment remains popular, usually the end of a marking period or semester, and is designed to determine the extent to which the learning objectives have been mastered. It measures or 'sums up' how much a student has learned from the course and is usually a graded test, marked according to a scale or set of grades.Though summative assessment alone cannot be an index of the students performance, a good balance between summative and formative assessment is necessary for a comprehensive evaluation system. The following features are available for summative assessment in the Learning Management System.
Extensive and thorough coverage of question patterns and question types
Extensive coverage of objective and subjective type of questions.
Diagnostic assessment and evaluation is concerned with the students persistent or recurring learning difficulties that are left unresolved during the course of classroom teaching and formative evaluation. If a student experiences continued failure, despite the use of prescribed alternate methods of instruction (e.g. programmed materials, visual aids, a more detailed diagnosis is needed. Some of the features in the LMS that support this are:
The teacher can create an online test, based on the blue print he/she has formulated.
Based on predefined blue print created by the teacher, the student will have access to create an on demand assessment to be used for practice
Use of adaptive methodology for student generated online practice assessments. For example, the system will not generate any medium level questions until the student has answered X% of easy level questions correctly. Similarly, the system will not generate any hard level questions until after the student has answered Y% of medium level questions correctly
The LMS also provides collaborative tools for video conferencing. The teacher can also use the virtual whiteboard which allows them to draw, add text and highlight information with powerful and flexible annotation tools. The system also allows the teachers, school administrators and students to connect directly using the LMSs Email capability
The LMS generates several reports which let the teacher monitor the progress of the students in their classes. These include:
Student List: A list of all the students in the teachers classes
Login Track: Check the login status of all the students to check if they have been logging into the LMS
Content Accessed: To check the progress of the students by evaluating the content and media files each has accessed as well as each students scores on quizzes and practice tests
Assignment Status: To check which students who have not submitted their assignments and review the scores of the students who have.
